About Us

As a specialty practice, we work on a referral basis and only handle surgical cases. That means that we work in partnership with primary care veterinarians offering consultation and advanced surgical services when they have directed their patients to us. We’re here to provide the best possible care and the happiest, healthiest outcomes for our patients and their families. We focus on creating a team effort with you and your family veterinarian where all of our efforts go toward the needs and comfort of your pet.

The doctors at Tidewater Veterinary Services have been specially trained in procedures that are typically more complex and go beyond the scope of what your family veterinarian offers. Our specialists have pursued additional training which includes an internship and completion of a surgical residency in an accredited program. After satisfying all of the terms of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and passing a rigorous examination, a veterinarian is eligible to be awarded the title of Diplomate, also referred to as being Board Certified.
